DOMINIQUE PERRAULT

Internationally recognized, it carries out numerous large-scale projects, such as the velodrome and the Olympic swimming pool in Berlin (1999), the Campus Complex Center of the women’s university of Ewha in Seoul (2008), the last two extensions of the court of justice of the European Union in Luxembourg (2019), the cover of the Suzanne Lenglen court in Paris (2024), the Villejuif-Gustave Roussy station, a new station for the Grand Paris Express network (2025), and is currently transforming the old Invalides terminal into the future museum-school of the Giacometti Foundation.

Considering architecture as a discipline intrinsically linked to urban planning, Dominique Perrault has notably worked on the urban future of Île de la Cité in Paris (2015), developed the Athletes’ Village for the 2024 Paris Games and designs, currently, a large intermodal transit center for the city of Seoul named Lightwalk.
Honorary Professor at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), he was awarded the Mies van der Rohe prize in 1997, the Praemium Imperial prize in 2015 and, that year, became a member of the Academy of Fine Arts. In 2019, he was appointed General Director of the 2021 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism.
Dominique Perrault has been working with the architect, designer and scenographer, Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost since 1989. The complementarity of the two creators results in a perfect mastery of architectural quality, from the urban scale to that of detail.
Between 2025 and 2030, many projects designed by Dominique Perrault will be delivered in France and abroad, notably the extension of the Caja Magica in Madrid, the extension of the Esplanade-Coupole of the EPFL Campus in Lausanne, two towers in Vienna, one of which will become the tallest wooden tower in Europe, and several residential and office towers in Seoul, South Korea.

From the National Library of France in Paris, to the Ewha Women’s University in Seoul, including the extension of the Dufour Pavilion at the Palace of Versailles, the agency has been developing for several decades, through this studio, a thorough research work focusing in particular on the use of metal mesh, on the study of soil epidermis and its underground potentialities, as well as on the transformation of the already there.
This research has given rise to several structuring concepts that today irrigate the work of the agency. They are the subject of numerous publications, including Groundscape – Autres topographies (HYX editions), Un village et sa double, Manuel d’urbanisme. Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 (Actar) or even Metallic mesh: the story of a weaving (box in 2 volumes, Gallimard).
DPA GALLERY
At the heart of the Parisian agency, on an exhibition platform of nearly 400 m 2, DPA Galerie presents the works and puts into perspective the achievements of the agency, from the first sketches of the 1980s to the models and panels of the most recent competitions.
