BIANCA BONDI – Exhibition for Prix Marcel Duchamp

Step into the remarkable installations of Bianca Bondi, for the 2025 Marcel Duchamp Prize by @adiaf_o , now on view at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris.
Born in 1986 in Johannesburg and based in Paris, Bondi graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts de Paris-Cergy (2012) and WITS University in Johannesburg (2006). Her multidisciplinary practice transforms everyday objects through chemical reactions most often with saltwater. For her, salt is a living, reactive material that carries the memory of places and time, a symbolic and spiritual element that reveals both the fragilities and invisible strengths of our world. The work presented here takes the form of a house conceived as a temple of protection, a recurring motif at the heart of her practice. Poetic and eco-conscious, her installations function as intimate ecosystems where every object undergoes a process of purification and transformation. Neither nostalgic nor dystopian, they remind us that each trace, deposit, or crystal is at once memory and promise.

The show is on view until February 22, 2025
